Rescued...

Last night our cat came to the door with this baby rabbit, so our son Matthew rescued him.
We do this often when our cat comes to the door with his little gifts.  We’ve rescued numerous flying squirrels, baby rabbits, chipmunks and birds.  So Matt brought the baby rabbit inside and sat with him for a while as we decided what to do with him.  I figured if we kept him he might not survive so we brought him out to our pasture area near some rocks and left him there hoping he’d survive.

This morning as I was thinking about the rescue of this baby rabbit what came to mind was how each one of us needs to be rescued from the clutches of death and the only one who can do that is Jesus.  There are those who think they need no rescuing but we all do.  Just as often times many of the animals we have rescued were terrified and didn’t think they needed us, in reality they did or they would have died.  So it is with each human being, we are all in need of a Saviour.  The penalty for our sin is death and so death has its grip on us but when we cry out to Jesus, bend our knee and accept Him as Lord of our lives, He then breaks the power of death.  And then we can sing that glorious hymn by Charles Wesley “Christ the Lord is Risen Today.”

Stanza 1:
Christ the Lord is ris’n today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heav’ns, and earth reply, Alleluia!

Stanza 2:

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids Him rise, Alleluia!
Christ has opened Paradise, Alleluia!

Stanza 3:
Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now they sting? Alleluia!
Dying once He all doth save, Alleluia!
Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

Stanza 4:
Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!
Foll’wing our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Stanza 5
Hail the Lord of earth and heaven, Alleluia!
Praise to Thee by both be given, Alleluia!
Thee we greet triumphant now, Alleluia!
Hail the Resurrection, thou, Alleluia!

Stanza 6
King of glory, soul of bliss, Alleluia!
Everlasting life is this, Alleluia!
Thee to know, Thy power to prove, Alleluia!
Thus to sing, and thus to love, Alleluia!

My son had a grip on Bandit…so no worries…the baby rabbit wasn’t even scared.  What comes to mind by looking at this picture is that often times we don’t even realize when the enemy is lurking there seeking to destroy us and at times we can't see him clearly.  So be aware and know your enemy.

  2. Sweet little bunny; at least your cat brings you live gifts! Wonderful food for thought...reminds me that I am sometimes my own worse enemy.

  3. Good morning, Tina! I think it's so cool how you can take an ordinary, every day occurrence and turn it into a teaching tool about Christ. Great analogy!!
